Life-Support Systems

Andy and his team have developed considerable experience of designing and building supplementary oxygen systems and full life-support systems for high-altitude flight.

A capsule life support system will automatically add oxygen to the capsule to replace the oxygen consumed by the crew and will remove the carbon dioxide they exhale. The system will also monitor the atmosphere within the capsule and trigger audible and visual alarms should any parameter stray out of limits.

Life support systems, like the one shown, can be used in any sealed capsule , such as submarines, high-altitude flight, or even in space.

High-Altitude Oxygen Systems

We can supply a wide range of oxygen systems for use at high altitude.

We can provide simple constant-flow oxygen systems using either a mask or nasal cannulae for altitudes up to 25 000 feet.

At higher altitudes, a constant flow system cannot supply enough oxygen to guarantee safety. For more extreme adventurers we can supply "diluter demand" oxygen systems. These systems provide a barometrically controlled mixture of ambient air and bottled oxygen to maintain a constant level of oxygen in the inhaled air as the altitude increases.

Advice, Testing and Training

We are able to advise on the selection and suitability of high altitude oxygen systems. We can also provide training in their use and testing facilities in our altitude chambers.
